Bailsco Airfoil Propellers are designed to obtain reaction from the air through which the blade moves. Applied to axial flow propellers, the airfoil design develops lift and drag for high efficiency. The efficiency varies relative to the angle of attack of the blade to the airstream at varying speeds. By "pitch matching" the airfoil blade to the requirement, you can obtain the lowest cost/cfm of air movement of the propeller.
Series 5 (5" blade chord width) propellers are available in diameters from 18 inches to 72 inches, and in 3, 4, 6, and 8 blade configurations with pitches offered from 24 degrees through 40 degrees in 2 degree increments. The Series 5 propellers feature permanent molded blades and are designed for installation with taper lock bushings. The 5 inch chord width blades are available in four designs. BailSco's standard design is the "18" blade which has a constant twist of 18 degrees at 20 inches. Our "A" blade has two separate twists and is designed for use for propellers up to 42 inches in diameter. The "B" blade has three separate twists and is designed for propellers over 48 inches in diameter. The "R" blade is our reversible blade and is used in applications where air movement needs to be forward or reverse, in either direction (supply or exhaust).
Series 7.5 (7-1/2" Heavy Duty) propellers are available in either fixed pitch or adjustable pitch design, and is produced in four, six and eight blade configurations. It is widely used for applications from 60 inches to 96 inches in diameter, and represents one of the most dependable designs available to the industry. Blade design is the "18" series. It is also available as a reversible propeller.
Computer programs are available for straight flow designs in both Series 5 and Series 7.5. These programs were developed from data obtained from certified tests to calculate the fan performance for any set of conditions within the test range. The programs allow the selection of the proper "pitch match" of the airfoil design to virtually any set of conditions for the maximum cfm at the lowest horsepower.
