In addition to proprietary products for the air movement industry, BailSco manufactures a wide variety of contract items including furniture parts, sub-bases for computerized check printing machines, and hydraulic reservoirs. Our ability to design and produce permanent molds places BailSco in an unusual position to offer customers "one stop" service. This eliminates many of the problems, that the customer faces, when introducing a new product line.
Permanent mold casting with aluminum alloys is inherently capable of producing castings of the highest possible strength and integrity. Permanent molding produces castings stronger than sand casting due to the increased density. The gentle filling of the mold, along with the rapid chilling of metal free of air entrapment and oxides, produces a fine grain structure unmatched, generally, by any other process. The use of iron or steel mold dies produces better dimensional tolerances than sand casting...and at a much lower cost than pressure die casting. "Value Engineering" is the best way to determine if permanent mold aluminum castings are for you. That is, consider the cost for your finished part, not the raw casting only. Precision casting can often reduce or eliminate costly secondary operations while improving product quality.

Our reverberatory type furnaces in 8,000, 4,000, or 1,000 pound capacities deliver molten aluminum of the highest quality. These furnaces are equipped with microprocessor-based temperature controls, metal filters, and de-gassing apparatus. For added flexibility, on smaller jobs, we also have several 450 pound crucible-type furnaces for producing parts in a variety of alloys kept in stock.
For operating permanent or semi-permanent molds we have tilt-pour machines that accommodate molds from 12" x 12" to 48" x 48". We also gladly build special machines for molds with partings too complex for press type machines.
The first step in assuring the quality of a product is to clearly define the quality desired. BailSco makes a special effort to understand all physical and functional requirements so that your parts will always measure up to your standards. We have many years experience testing mechanical properties and chemical compositions. We also conduct various non-destructive type tests normally used on non-ferrous castings. The gating systems on new jobs are verified by x-ray. If needed, we can build special machines for special functional tests.
The use of TQM teams, to improve techniques, is also part of BailSco's continuous improvement program in Quality Assurance.
BailSco's dedication to quality and service carries through to the finishing department where our considerable machinery gives your raw castings their final shapes. Band saws and grinders trim while general use and custom built machines drill, tap, ream, mill, and perform customized operations. Also, helping to assure smooth product flow through the plant are the operations of sand blasting, vibratory finishing, welding, and assembly.
Heat treating is done in pit-type ovens with recorders and appropriate instruments. Our staff is experienced in spectrographic analysis, Zyglo penetrant and x-ray.
